XVIII edition Sagra dell’Arancino in Ficarazzi, part of Acicastello (CT), on 5,6,7 and 8 September in Piazza Giovanni xxiiiesimo. A combination of flavors, folklore and tradition that are renewed every year to savor the typical Sicilian street food. The symbiosis between typically Sicilian gastronomy, music and folklore are the fundamental components for the realization of one of the most important events of the Catania hinterland.

The late-summer king in Ficarazzi is the “Arancino”. The annual appointment with the Sicilian food and wine tradition has become one of the most famous events not only in the entire province; in fact, many tourists come from all over Italy to participate in this festival.

But how is this pride of Sicilian cuisine prepared?
To be able to make excellent arancini the trick is to boil the rice and pour a little saffron during the boiling. Create small round “timbales” and season them in the center with the sauce. Once this procedure has been completed, the only thing left to do is to put the arancine in the flour, in the beaten egg, in the breadcrumbs and then fry in plenty of olive oil. The arancini are good both hot and cold but we recommend to taste them hot to taste the cheese that melts making them even more exquisite. We also advise you to opt for the “modern” variants that you can only find in Ficarazzi, a suburb of Acicastello (Catania). In fact, the classic butter and sauce arancino has been enriched with new and inviting flavors: pistachio, octopus, mushrooms, pink sauce, nutella, pesto, vegetarian, chicken, cuttlefish ink and many others. Trying them all is really the noblest invitation you can make.
