ITINERARY 1 2002 CRATERS EXCURSION

Difficulty level: easy
Starting from Piano Provenzana at an altitude of 1800 meters you will reach the volcanic craters which triggered the most important eruption – in the year 2002 – on the north side of the volcano. Cross the melt flow out of these craters along a path that runs along the lava flow channel, you will walk through a deep canyon, carved by the enormous magmatic mass, that has invaded and partially destroyed the centuries-old Ragabo Pine Forest.
A panorama of great beauty, before returning to Piano Provenzana.

ITINERARY 2 CRATERS EXCURSION WITH VISIT TO THE CAVE OF LAMPS

Difficulty level: easy-medium
Starting from Piano Provenzana, climb up to 1800 meters and admire the recent casting. Then cross it, passing through the path that runs along the lava flow channel and from there head towards the Rifugio Timparossa. After the Rifugio Timparossa, at 1793 meters you will find the Grotta dei Lamponi: it is one of the longest-running tunnels of Etna. After visiting the cave, continue along the path along the altomontana road towards the Caserma Pitarrone, until you reach Rifugio Ragabo, the final destination of your excursion. An itinerary that will excite you for its variety: you will alternate the journey through the Pineta Ragabo to spectacular stretches of beech forests and lava casting.

ITINERARY 3 EXCURSION TO SUMMIT CRATERS – ETNA SUD

Difficulty level: medium-high
Starting from the Rifugio Sapienza at an altitude of 1900 meters on the Etna Sud side, you will reach 2500 meters with the help of the cable car and reach 2900 meters with 4×4 buses. Frome, there you can continue trekking until the Summit Craters at about 3320 meters and live a unique and unforgettable experience. From here, after you have made a stop along the craters, you can start the descent to the craters of 2002 up to 2500 meters and return by cable car to the starting point. We advise you to wear trekking shoes, layered clothing for the different temperatures that can be found during excursion, cap, telescopic poles.
