The Butterfly House Monteserra, the first in southern Italy, is a large tropical aviary where hundreds of butterflies, among the most beautiful and extraordinary in the world, with the most varied shapes and colors, are free to fly. In the midst of its lush vegetation, they can be observed at close range in all their beauty as they feed, fly or rest in an environment that reproduces their natural habitat.

It is a real living museum dedicated to butterflies and the world of insects where, with scientific rigor, we dedicate ourselves to information, environmental education and awareness on the issues of nature conservation and its resources.

Inside we find butterflies, among the most beautiful and special in the world, such as: the Cobra Moth, for example, which has on its wings the shape and colors of the Cobra snake in order to defend itself from predators; or the Owl Butterfly, with the fake eyes of the owl; or even the famous Farfalla Leaf that blends perfectly with the real leaves.

The structure has now become the main tourist destination in the area often connected to the new Etna Museum located less than a kilometer away. From this year, visitors can also take advantage of the new exhibition spaces dedicated to the Silkworm (this is also a moth!) And the Formiche Tagliafoglie.

The Butterfly House is located inside the Monte Serra Park in Viagrande (CT), a protected natural area of the Etna area, equipped for recreational activities with nature trails, picnic areas, children’s playground, ideal for spending a day outdoors in a natural environment easily accessible to all.
