The Giovanni Verga Museum is the birth place of the famous Italian writer who created some of the most important masterpieces of the Italian literature.

The Giovanni Verga Museum is located on the second floor of an ancient building in the old town centre where the famous Sicilian writer was born and spent most of his life. Well known for his superb masterpieces, he returned to Catania in 1893 to live out the last days of his life. One of the most interesting attractions of the museum is the walnut library, that holds almost 2600 books of influential authors such as Deledda, Marinetti, or Russian and French writers such as Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Flaubert, Maupassant and Dumas. Entering the museum, you’ll find the desk where he wrote a lot of his best novels, and a gorgeous etching made by Francesco Di Bartolo; then, going through his house, you can find the living room and here you can start a lovely tour through his life and his incredible works.
